For the most part, I want you guys to have as much creative freedom as possible regarding your characters. That said, there are a few things that require some rules and structure, and all that can be found here.
KINGDOMS !?
There are several different kingdoms in this world, each designated to a particular species of animal: hoofed, canine, feline, avian, aquatic, etc. but any and all animals can live in any kingdom that can support them. So, a herd of zebras can live in the feline kingdom; however, they cannot own land, they can only live as drifters. Canines can only own territory in the canine kingdom, humans can only own territory in the human kingdom, etc. Because some animals here are carnivores, it is not uncommon from them to go hunting in the kingdom of prey animals, and any prey animal living in a carnivorous kingdom is at risk of being killed.
LAND OWNERSHIP !?
Any animal can own land in its proper kingdom, and herds/packs/prides/flocks/schools can be mixed, with deer in a horse herd, etc. Males and females both can own land and start groups, but they must be at least 3 years old. Anyone can challenge a leader for their land, and challenges must be accepted or the leader forfeits. Winning a land challenge does not automatically mean the challenger gets the group living there, though it can be a condition of the challenge. Otherwise the group must vacate with the losing leader and seek a new home.
REPRODUCTION !?
We're going to allow a year-round breeding season for all species on the site. That means that at any time, characters can mate. Keep in mind that graphic breeding is not allowed; to mate, just fill out the correct form in the New Life board, and have the player of the other parent fill it out and reply to the thread you start. After two weeks, a staff member will respond to your thread with the stats of your characters' offspring. The number of offspring you receive depends on the species of your characters; some species regularly have only one child at a time, others have multiple. Also, mate within species, no wolf-crocodile hybrids. There's another thread that outlines the average age of maturity for each species and the average number of offspring they have at a time. Gods can reproduce with each other to create Gods, or with mortals to create demigods, which are extremely rare.
